Swimming in the Southern Gulf Islands
Swimming in the Southern Gulf Islands

The waters of the Southern Gulf Islands aren’t exactly warm but many people do swim here and really enjoy the refreshing dip. Some areas are warmer than others with James Bay on Prevost Island, Sidney Spit on Sidney Island, East Point on Saturna Island, Bennett Bay on Mayne Island and Princess Bay on Portland Island being popular. If you are travelling by boat there is excellent swimming at other locations in the area such as Wallace Island and Todd Inlet.

Please note there are no lifeguard services available and watch for jellyfish!
